I recently rewatched the film and adored it. The tone of it, and having a protagonist who is flawed, but originally has good intentions.
If anyone has some book recommendations similar to what I’ve described that would be amazing!!

I’ve been on the hunt for something similar too. I know it’s based on a Shakespeare play, but I’m not particularly into that style of writing.
The only thing I’ve found that’s a bit of the same vibe is The Warlord Chronicles by Bernard Cornwell. It’s an Arthurian trilogy, and Arthur reminds me of how Henry V was portrayed in The King; he doesn’t want to be king but feels compelled to lead, always wanting to do the right thing but often failing. The story isn’t told from his perspective, but he is a major character.
