Let me start out by saying om not from the US. So my description might completely wrong, but I’m looking for books with a sense of that foggy autumn days and nights. It rains, the leaves fall on you, people keep to themselves on the street and secrets seem to be everywhere. It’s kinda like Nordic Noir, which I’ve read quite a bit of, but I’m looking for a book that takes place elseshere.

A book about a detective working a dark case in a little town in the forrest and mountains filled with mystery and a little dread or a book set in war time like a book sat in world war two would perhaps be ideal.

I’m open to reading crime, true crime, drama, horror, fantasy, non-fiction or maybe something else, so pretty open!

Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young is set on an island in the Peugeot Sound. It takes place during autumn in a small town where everything is not as it seems. There is an overall feeling of dread. The main character has to uncover a well-hidden secret about something that happened in her past.
