    Hi there!

I am looking for a book/book series that combines fantasy with greek mythology.

The first thought is always Percy Jackson but as an adult it is not so much fun to read anymore. So it needs to be a book that deals with the topic but is readible when grown up.

I am happy about any suggestion 🙂

    1. Madeline Miller’s retellings, *Circe* and *Song of Achilles*, do a good job of transforming mythological and poetic sources into well-written fantasy novels.

    2. Strongly recommend a prose translation of the Iliad and the Odyssey.

Mary Renault’s novels the King Must Die and the Bull from the Sea are a decent modern retelling of the Theseus myth

Pat Barker: the Silence of the Girls and the Women of Troy are a reasonable modern retelling of the Trojan War from the point of view of Briseis.

I hate the Song of Achilles listed below because she makes Patroclus a non-warrior, which makes a nonsense of the whole story but her Circe is ok – we don’t have much original material about Circe so it doesn’t matter much what she makes up and the angle on Odysseus, a trickster-hero, is compatible with the original character.
