Hi all, asking for my gran as she’s read all of Martina Cole’s books and loves them all and doesn’t know where to go in terms of books and authors now. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks 🙂
There are a few authors who do something very, very similar to Martina Cole. Try Jessie Keane, Mandasue Heller, Kerry Kaya, Roberta Kray, Jacqui Rose or Kimberley Chambers.
The thing is, none of them do it quite as well as Cole herself, IMO. That said, if your gran doesn’t mind a lot of the same story ‘beats’ and style, any or all of this bunch could be worth investigating.
You could also take a look at Lynda La Plante. Her stuff is a bit different; crime and police thrillers rather than crime family sagas. (She wrote Prime Suspect, as well as Widows and Trial & Retribution on TV.) She’s a good writer. As a rule. And she’s been around for a long time so there are loads of books out there.

Maybe Minette Walters.
