I just finished The Woman in the Window and it was so hard to read sometimes because I was so frustrated with the character and her repetitive habits.
There is trauma in the book and I’m not an addict of any kind so maybe that’s why I can’t relate but, I found myself like literally so upset with the main character about what she kept doing, and it was hard to get through some of the parts.
Do you ever feel that way about characters sometimes?

Characters aren’t meant to be relatable. The best book I read last year had a closeted gay male protagonist who sacrificed at least one life to Nazis in order to please his male lover. Infuriating. An excellent, well written story.
I had to dnf that book. For me the slow pace was just too slow and I agree that the protagonist was annoying. But that genre thrives on women just like her. I know Riley Sager has been called out for that exact thing.
Personally, I just looked up the ending and was done with it.
