It doesn’t necessarily have to be **fantasy** or **sci-fi or adventure** \- I also particularly love **thrillers** and am up to read **any other number of things**, but **preferably not something I’d want to really sit down and annotate**. I don’t have the mental or emotional bandwidth to read a serious work right now. Monday Starts on Saturday and House of Leaves are both still sitting on my shelf waiting to be opened. Actually, you can still recommend something for later! It’s just not what i’m looking for right now.

**I’d just like a queer female relationship to be the focus of at least one significant romantic subplot, and if the main character is a queer woman, that would be a bonus.** I’m cool with prominent male characters being in the book, like, friends, rivals, other characters in straight relationships etc. but I have nothing but straight female protag YA romantasy clogging up my app right now and I just can’t seem to choke any of it down… It’s all that’s in my recommendations. So, honestly? I would be happy with at least one romantic subplot where i don’t have to read about how dreamy and feral the rapey mountain man is or how exciting it is when tall dark and handsome disregards boundaries or about how she has the hots for this father figure guy who’s way older than her. I don’t mind reading about mlm romance when it comes up, so don’t think your book can’t include that.

I read the **priory of the orange tree by Samantha Shannon** a couple years back and **really liked it**. I was very invested in the relationship between the two characters, though the writing definitely was not amazing throughout. **I also read the Locked Tomb series** through the third book recently and I have very **mixed opinions**, but I’ve kept turning pages… I’m not sure if i’m interested in reading the fourth book, but i’ll probably give it a look at some point out of sheer desperation and FOMO. I guess this is to say that i’m not necessarily looking for high art. It doesn’t have to be, like, the best quality writing, although of course i’d love to find a book or series to capture my imagination and be obsessed with. I’m just going through some stuff lately and I’m kind of desperate for something to press my face into that suits my tastes. Help me out? thank you!
