Hello,
I recently finished Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry, and it’s left a bit of a hole in my life. Not having this great epic to check into every day has me longing for another. Much like how I felt after reading East of Eden.
I’ve read a lot of Hemingway and Steinbeck, and this was my first by McMurtry. I figured you lot would be a good bunch to ask!
Thanks.

Man, I love both *EoE* and *LD*. Following this thread to see suggestions on what could compare to them.
I have heard (though they are TBR for me) that *Anna Karenina* and *The Brothers Karamazov* are similar.
If you like McMurtry you might try The Last Picture Show.
Having read both of those, I highly highly recommend Pachinko by Min Jin Lee. Multi-generational saga with just fantastic writing. Very rich subject matter, too.
Nothing is as good as Lonesome Dove. It’s very sad. I didn’t even like Streets of Laredo much.
