It was a book given to me about 13 years ago as a gift.
I don’t remember much about the book except that the main character is a female. She is in love with her male best friend and was for years. He eventually meets and falls in love with someone else. She later realizes that she was the one standing in her own way the whole time. Like one time that they were hanging out and he has his head on her lap and she looked down at him and him at her, but she got self conscious he could look up her nose so she looked away.
In the end she got him a grill as a wedding present and decides not to give it to him so her and her roommate decide to keep it. (I think her roommate is either a cop or a teacher or she’s a cop or a teacher but idr…)
It’s not a typical happily ever after book where they end up together but she learns more about herself, how to let him go and not be such a people pleaser.
I’ve been trying to remember this book for years and have tried to googled so many combinations of what little I remember but no such luck.
Please tell me someone knows this book! 😭
