hello hello ! first time poster.
after reading the da vinci code, i found myself really enjoying the idea of being lost in a suspenseful fictitious plot, but in the context of the real world. here there is opportunity to learn about about a given place / culture / society etc while more importantly being lost in an engaging plot. i experienced this in many other reads, including the kite runner (as to where i grasped a good understanding of afghanistan & the taliban) + many memoirs.
please help to find my next read & please do not hyper fixate on the mentioning of the da vinci code… i am aware of the mixed reviews. while the contents of this book are based on conspiracy, i still learnt heaps about many cool things !!!
thank you

For Whom the Bell Tolls, by Ernest Hemingway. It’s about the Spanish Civil War.
Wolf By Wolf by Ryan Graudin
I don’t know about suspenseful but I loved Cryptonomicon. It’s the book that got me into historical fiction. And you don’t have to understand all the crypto stuff. BTW I also liked The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns.
