Had a devastating loss in our per family. Can’t get past it.

Please suggest me a book series or very long book to escape in, and get so involved I forget my own problems for awhile.
My favorite kind of plot of storyline is adventure, Pilgrimages, woods with magical creatures, quests with magical realism, magical realism, floods, survival of a group of strangers, strangers trapper together, southern noir or western like Lonesome Dove, afterlives and ghosts.
