I found a niche (well, niche to me, Im sure this is bigger than I assume) genre in a couple of books that I found really interesting, and thats where the main characters are androids or robots of some kind and the book is from their perspective. I first found Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro and another book in the form of a diary by a housemaid android turned rogue (I cannot remember the name atm!) which is such a cool concept.
Im usually not into sci-fi but I assume I like these two because its not the action based pew pew pew secret agent type of robot. I guess Im looking for some more tame roles. Any suggestions?

[A Closed and Common Orbit](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/6887d276-6f62-4942-b0c3-295cf8b92f7a) by Becky Chambers
Sea of Rust by C Robert Cargill, AI/android dystopia after they wiped out all the humans. It has a bit of a western vibe, but it’s not like, super pew pew space wars type.
Not androids, but since you specifically mentioned _Klara and the Sun_ I’ve gotta recommend _Never Let Me Go_, also by Ishiguro. It deals with many of the same themes–bodily autonomy, social division, interiority-as-shaped-by-caste, etc. It’s tender and genuinely moving, and the slow reveals throughout are engaging and impactful.
The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells! Series of novellas, they are absolutely wonderful.
Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie – the narrator is the ship’s artificial consciousness. A clever and unusual book.
Seconding Becky Chambers – A Closed and Common Orbit as mentioned by someone else features an android main character, but I would recommend all of them!
