I don’t have a particular book I’m looking for – just access to a whole online library (such an amazing thing) and too many options.
I think I’m not so much in the mood for fiction at the minute, have done a fair bit of that recently, but not totally opposed! 🙂
Here are some of my favourite and/or books I’ve liked in general:
* Currently reading Humphrey Carpenter’s Biography of JRR Tolkien – really liking it. I quite like a good biography/autobiography. Loved Edward Snowden’s autobiography.
* The Lord of the Rings (favourite) hence the above and all Tolkien. Not sure I’m in the mood for fantasy though.
* P.G. Wodehouse’s Jeeves series
* Anything about Catholicism, CS Lewis’ non-fiction, etc.
* Dystopian/Post-Apocalyptic fiction (1984, etc.) – The Lord of the World is one of my favourite books – however there’s a few in this category I expected to enjoy but didn’t – A Canticle for Liebowitz, The Chrysalids (enjoyed the story, but not the ending), The War of the Worlds (found it a little boring tbh), Never Let Me Go (extremely well written, but wouldn’t want a repeat). Brave New World was ok.
* Science fiction maybe – I haven’t read much but I enjoyed Do Androids Dream… Also really enjoyed CS Lewis’ Space Trilogy. Kind of overlaps with previous point.
* Historical Non-Fiction, General non-fiction. Loved 12 years a slave and Frederick Douglass books, Mark Twain’s Joan of Arc.
* Oscar Wilde
Sorry I have no idea what I want! Have some brain fog with Long-Covid so nothing really tough – I started the Iliad last year but was too much for me.

Hyperion by Dan Simmons for sci-fi with a touch of Catholicism (I believe one of the characters is a priest)
