Hi! I never enjoyed reading until coming across The Giver by Lois Lowry in 7th grade. I read the whole series but that wasn’t enough to provoke an interest in reading any others. In 9th grade, I read The Hunger Games and was thrilled, proceeded onto Fahrenheit 451, and quite obviously realized that my interest lied in the genre of dystopian literature. I was too busy later in high school but managed to read Animal Farm and 1984. Enjoyed both of them and am looking for many more to read now that I’ve graduated!
additional info:
Recently, I find myself enjoying books out of the dystopian genre too, but never romance. Pride and Prejudice, Wuthering Heights both bored me… my most recent read was Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozi and that was great! I guess fiction novels related to the realms of history, sociology, and politics are the ones I favor??
