To those who read biographies, what is it that stands out to you when you read them and/or what specific things have stood out to you that you really enjoyed when you read a biography. What kind of things made you enjoy the book or really caught your attention?

I am writing a biography about a judo master, and I was wondering what ways I can improve my book and make it more interesting. Also, if anyone has read any martial artist biography like this please recommend!

Lots of events. When i read Che Guevara’s biography i found a lot if the events that didn’t even have to do with politics interesting like his motorcycle trip across South America in his earlier years. In Pablo Escobar’s biography, it talked about his ambitions to become a race-car driver when he was younger. Definitely speak on the martial arts but don’t forget the small stories in between.

    2. The events that give context to the person’s life are the most interesting. Who were their parents? Where did they grow up? What did they do during childhood and early adulthood? What unique combinations of factors make this person different? How did these events shape them to be the person they are?
