Hey readers,
Recently I was looking at the analytics on my ereader and I realize that I read books at about half the speed it typically estimates.
*For example:*
*It took me 28 hours to read ‘A Little Life’ rather than its estimated 16h*
*Similarly, it took me 10 hours to read ‘Writers and Lovers’ rather than its estimated 4.5h*
What’s curious is that I am a fast reader when reading passages in general (\~400wpm). In fact, I recall the ability to read quickly being helpful on SATs/ACT when I was in school.
My theory is, when I’m reading books, I get either distracted or have poor comprehension first-pass and have to re-read passages.
Generally, not too concerned about reading speed, as after all, its not a race. But I am curious if anyone else is similar and if anyone has been able to improve comprehension at first pass so you don’t need to re-read passages over and over.

I have massive adhd, I time my pages to keep me focused. Even if a book takes me half a minute to read a page, it usually takes me more than the 200 minutes it would take to read a 400 page book.
I often look at my phone and just can’t read straight. Haven’t tried it on adhd meds yet though
