This might be too specific, but I befriended a person who was born in Bethlehem and then had to flee to Beirut after the six day war, grew up there but had to run away from one part of the town to the other as well, for reasons I haven’t quite understood yet.
I really want to understand everything a bit better, I have no idea about the how and why. Most of the books about Palestine tell the story of the conflict with Israel. I think I might be looking for a book that tells the story of the Palestinian people, in their home and in exile. I’ve seen a bit about the current situation in the camps in Lebanon, but I’m interested in the 60s and 70s.
