I’m finally trying to get back into reading, but I’m really struggling with finding something to read. I haven’t really been able to fully get into a book since I read Weir’s Project Hail Mary, and I’m honestly kind of chasing that high, haha.

    A bit about me:

    – I adore sci fi, specifically near future, more grounded sci fi. Hard sci fi if you will. Weir has absolutely hit my sweet spot with this, but he only has so many books out, and I’ve already read them all
    – I prefer female protagonists in most cases, though this isn’t a deal breaker. I often find it harder to relate to a man, though it’s less about gender and more about how, in sci fi, male leads often all follow the same “super tough soldier guy with no emotions” archetype, which I can’t stand. I’m more than willing to read about a male (or other gendered) protagonist so long as they’re interesting
    – I also love medical thrillers, especially if they have sci fi themes to them
    – My other soft spot is for zombie/post-apocalptic fiction. Anything that has to do with a group of survivors trying to make it through a terrible situation is very fun for me, especially if said survivors are interesting characters and not wooden planks

    A few books I love:
    – Anything by Andy Weir
    – The Andromeda Strain
    – The Enemy series by Charlie Higson (childhood favorite, still have a ton of nostalgia for it)
    – The Kay Scarpetta novels

Any help much appreciated! I’d love to hear about some of your favorites and why I should read them. Thank you!
