Boyfriend and I are are in a long distance relationship, and we’re trying to find a book to read together. But we want to meet in the middle genre-wise.

I’d prefer Ruth Ware and he’d take Andy Weir.

Though I know a lot of science fiction set in space has a suspenseful element to it, please suggest anything that we’re missing out on!

Nothing Andy Weir, no annihilation series, and preferably steer clear of The Thing/Alien-esque books because he has probably read them.

It can be true, hard science but my requests are that there is an element of person VS person conflict and it’s not an extreme slow burn. I have trouble getting into sci-fi that’s mainly atmospheric or strictly person/team VS nature.

Hope that isn’t *too* specific but I’d love some suggestions outside of the books I’ve chosen with some personal bias!

    Thanks in advance!!!

How about “Dark Matter” by Blake Crouch? It’s a fast-paced sci-fi thriller with elements of suspense and horror, but set more in a contemporary urban setting than in space. It’s got mind-bending twists, intense action, and explores themes of identity and choice. Plus, it’s a real page-turner that keeps you on the edge of your seat! Perfect for a couple looking for a thrilling read together.
