i LOVE this book. ling ma also has a collection of short stories called bliss montage that are wonderful.
i would also recommend never let me go by kazuo ishiguro, dark matter by blake crouch, or my year of rest and relaxation by ottessa moshfegh.
i’ve heard people who like severance also like ripe by sarah rose etter but i haven’t gotten to this one myself yet!

I’m currently reading Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler and it feels very similar in its intimate apocalyptic nature but not darkly comic or absurdist like Severance.
Wanderers by Chuck Wendig might also fit the bill.
