You just opened a Reddit post and are taken aback at being addressed in second person. Wasn’t this supposed to be just another post begging for suggestions so that you could shill your favorite books no matter how disparate it may be from the theme in question? Well fear not, dear Redditor (your cringe at being addressed thusly), for it is such a post, with a hook just to keep you invested just long enough to keep you from doomscrolling past and confining this post to the wasteheap of the countless ones who never made it out of ‘new’. Your mouth upturns slightly (hopefully), as you feel a faint sense of amusement at this try-hard of a Reddit post, knowing that no matter how hard it tries, it would be but a post on Reddit. But this is rambling on for too long, and you can’t help but feel the author had a great hook for the post but is quickly running out of ideas just a few sentences in and—

Nah I am tired. I just read If on a Winter’s Night a Traveler by Italo Calvino if you didn’t notice. Just wanted to shill it and beg for suggestions for something similar, works that play with the narrative structure and medium (heard great things about House of Leaves, on my TBR)
