I’m trying to get back into writing, and as I was recently told, my lack of reading in the past 3-4 years my have exacerbated my writer’s block by a lot. So, to remedy this, I wanna read more.

The only problen is I’m completely terrible at finding good books on my own the majority of the time. I either pick up a book cuz the cover was pretty, and realize after reading the firsr chapter that the book sucks, *badly*, or I have to rely on famous author’s works in order to know that I’ll enjoy the purchase.

So, if it isn’t *much* of a hassle, what are some good books in the mystery/modern fantasy/modern sci-fi for adults/young adults (I’m 22 so just wanted to add YA). Preferably from lesser known authors.

    Thanks in advance

    1. The Spare Man by Mary Robinette Kowal (sci fi mystery)

The Mimicking of Known Successes by Malka Ann Older (sci fi mystery)

The Ballad of Perilous Graves by Alex Jennings (contemporary fantasy)

    2. Not lesser known but I really love Murderbot diaries by Martha Wells when it comes to recent scifi
