Personally I think the book reflects something that is wrong with us all – We can’t accept the truth and someone’s else opinion (Unless it’s extremely offensive like “All Chinese should be burned”). It’s all relevant to today’s book bans in US in which conservatives (or some liberals, who ban old books due to content) can’t comprehend that the world changes and people’s mindset – like LGBT is more acceptable today than in the past (That’s why some great people thought that it would be great to ban a book about two male penguins living together). Only coward could burn a book and get away from responsibility which would to challenge the content and engage in discussion, in the book the coward was firemen’s captain Beatty. “Its real beauty is that it destroys responsibility and consequences. A problem gets too burdensome, then into the furnace with it.”, he seems to be smart, but in reality he’s nothing but ignorant government simple-minded puppet, which despites books so much, that he doesn’t even feel bad for burning alive old lady. He never tries to understand anything he burns that’s why he thinks everything in books is not real and full of “silly little words”. There is also Mrs. Bowles, whose two husbands have left her already and the third spills his blood drafted into ongoing war. She finds her comfort spot away from any pesky poems, she doesn’t try to understand why her second husband died and whines when Montag reads anti-war poem. “Silly words, silly words, silly awful hurting words,” “Why do people want to hurt people? Not enough hurt in the world, you’ve got to tease people with stuff like that!”. I hate the world I’m living in, because if these people keep appearing when what’s the point of even being a human, the only animal who writes and shares his personal thoughts on paper from philosophy to different ideologies. What’s the point of living if everything you want to try is banned because it forces other people to think like “1984” or “Fahrenheit 451” and people hate thinking? My school already has ripped off me free time (I start around 11 and finish around 7 pm) and possibly to think in home or spend time in hobby clubs (there are no interest groups in my school) and I hope that in the future cowards like Beatty won’t at least affect me.
