I’m really fascinated by prehistoric peoples. Pre-agriculture, mesolothic, neolithic, etc. There’s lots of good documentaries about this, but I’d love to read a book that really gets into their head, and our best projections of their family and social lives. Any recommendations?

Quest for Fire by J.-H. Rosny aîné?
Possibly Piers Anthony’s *Isle of Woman*? It’s been a long time since I read it, but it began before humans were actually homo sapiens and progressed through several novels. It’s an epic love story, but I think it’s pretty historically accurate as far as the state of the earth and the human species.
The North America’s Forgotten Past series by the Gears is accurate to what we knew at the time. It’s done by a husband and wife team of archaeologists. It skips all over North America across a wide span of time.
