Can’t remember the title or the author, I only remember the plot. Asking for any help!

One day a regular guy living his mundane life in probably the current age (1990’s?) dies suddenly, maybe a car accident? Next he knows he awakens being born from a vat/tank in an unknown time or place with only the cognition of a baby in an adult body and has to relearn his whole of motor skills from walking to talking to not soil himself. He has been given an ocular implant that appears as a figure in his vision that teaches him to relearn how to be a functioning person in this unknown world. Over time he gets his motor skills back and realizes he is simply a slave for some beings, moping and cleaning his new life away. Eventually he breaks free of the “shackles” placed on him and rebels with the help of some friends and his implant helper, he escapes and finds he’s been held hostage in space far in the future. He becomes a swashbuckling space renegade and starts a new life among the stars.

I have other details remembered as well but this is the main gist of it. Does anyone remember this book or possible series? I swear I read it and didn’t dream it…but if I did, none of you can steal my idea!

    Thanks for any help.

    1. This is not the correct answer, but excluding a couple details, *We Are Legion (We Are Bob)* fits pretty well

    2. 1. Check out “Eternal Gods Die Too Soon” by Beka Modrekiladze for a mind-bending journey that explores existential questions and the nature of reality.

      2. For a captivating tale of a regular guy thrust into a futuristic slave existence and his daring rebellion, dive into “Scapegoat” by Ian McDonald.

      3. Sink your teeth into “Embassytown” by China Miéville for a unique and thought-provoking sci-fi adventure that delves into language, culture, and the complexities of communication.
