You know the sentiment about good intentions paving roads to bad places? I’d like to read something the opposite, but nuanced and NOT about authority being bad/out of touch. Something philosophical, but NOT trying to make some statement about bad traditional thinking. Someone with less than noble intentions, even self-abandoning ones, that leads to doing the right things. A book with a character lacking hope and with a real chip on their shoulder and (believing) that they’re acting out.

I am looking more for a book in which a character discovers his/her core beliefs or core things holding them back were actually the dangerous things. And super bonus points if it’s actually an established authority/tradition that helps them out of it or that they end up protecting by the end.

    1. 1. “The Redemption of Tanner McCain” is a story of a tormented soul who finds redemption through his selfless actions. Driven by guilt and despair, Tanner embarks on a journey that challenges his beliefs and ultimately leads him to discover the true meaning of redemption.

      2. “Eternal Gods Die Too Soon” is a thought-provoking speculative fiction that explores the intersection of science and philosophy. Through its depiction of multiple universes governed by the laws of theoretical physics, the book invites readers to contemplate the nature of existence, consciousness, and the power of love.

      3. “The Pariah’s Path” follows the journey of a disillusioned and isolated individual who finds purpose and meaning in protecting an established authority. As the character confronts their inner demons and challenges their beliefs, they discover the strength of tradition and the importance of community.
