I haven’t read in quite some time, but lately I’ve noticed I’ve strayed from my obsession with fantasy. Going to the local renaissance festival has me wanting to get immersed again, and I’m hoping I’ll be inspired to create art again, too.
I’m looking for a good high-fantasy book (mythical creatures, swords, magic, etc. I don’t like anything with guns. The only *slight* exception would be dwarves or gnomes who have more advanced civilizations). I also would like an adult tone, but I’m not opposed to YA. I’d like a one-off book, or at the most a trilogy. I get too intimated with huge, developed worlds like Brandon Sanderson.
Books I’ve read and loved:
The Lord of the Rings
The Amaranth Enchantment (read this as a young teen so I’m not sure if it still holds up lol)
The Wise Man’s Fear (I’m not a fan of the Kingkiller Chronicles anymore, I have my complaints with the series, but overall I loved the setting and the first book.)
Tales of the Frog Princess (kids’ series I know, but I read these over and over and LOVED them!)
The Bear and the Nightingale (the entire trilogy)

Uprooted and Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik have Winternight trilogy vibes.
