I’m looking for memoir like books about their experiences with religious cults, like Troublemaker by Leah remini. I’ve watched a lot of documentaries about stuff like this but fascinated and wanting to read some as well! Thanks in advance!!
Prefer non fiction/memoir, but if you have a really good suggestion that is fiction I’m open to that as well! Thanks in advance friends!!

Two that I have enjoyed are
– *Bare-Faced Messiah: The True Story of L. Ron Hubbard* by Russell Miller about the founding of Scientology
– *Don’t Call it a Cult: The Shocking Story of Keith Raniere and the Women of NXIVM* by Sarah Berman
The Polygamist’s Daughter is a good one!
Seductive Poison by Deborah Layton (about Jonestown)
Heaven’s Harlots by Miriam Williams (about Children of God)
The Sound of Gravel by Ruth Wariner (about growing up in a polygamist cult)
Under the Banner of Heaven about fundamentalist Mormons. I actually really didn’t like the book but I see it recommended here a lot so tastes vary.
Leaving The Witness by Amber Scorah (nf)
There was a man, Ted Patrick, who kidnapped cult members at the behest of their parents. He would then deprogram them. He was arrested, tried and convicted for kidnapping. Charges brought against him by those whom he removed from the cults but unsuccessfully attempted to deprogram.
