I’m enamoured by the idea of Magic Mushrooms (psylocibins) administered to cancer patients who are facing mortality. The reason behind this controlled psychedelic trip is to eliminate the fear of dying. This opens a spiritual realm for these patients. Many patients come out of this experience understanding that there is more to life, a whole new spiritual world exists beyond death, for example, an old lady had an epiphany during her trip about seeing her family tree, and how she came to be. She got an ethereal insight into the past, real or just a figment of her vision, that she had snapshots of her ancestors at the moment of their weddings.
I am looking for fiction books where these kinds of events are the main thread of the plot. The books that deal with this sort of mysticism.
