I’m just reading Malcolm Gladwell’s “Tipping Point” and the sections about the epidemic of crime (and subsequent turnaround) reminded me how fascinating I find that period of NYC history.
Looking for any books, fiction or non-fiction, that capture the gritty vibe of that era. I’ve read “The Warriors” and love the movie – that’s the vibe I’m going for (although it doesn’t have to be gang or even directly crime related). I also just finished “If Beale Street Could Talk”, which has an element of it too, albeit from a slightly earlier period.
