I’ve come to realise that I don’t like reading unless I can properly dedicate my time and attention to it – both of which are severely limited resources – so how do you go about reading when you’re busy?
Sure, I could read while at the gym, however it’s not sinking in fully then. I can’t appreciate foreshadowing or connect dots or properly visualise descriptive scenes like that. Plus, it hampers my exercises.
Yes, I could read in the small moments between other activities or while waiting on something, but then I end up losing my place on the page or reading through one page in 5 spaces of 40 seconds across the span of an hour, and then not all of the content can be absorbed anyway.
So aside from cutting out an hour or two somewhere in your day, how on Earth do you read satisfactorily?
One positive to this is that I suppose re-visiting the novel would be more thrilling since I wouldn’t have been able to soak it all in the first time around, but I find myself frustrated nonetheless. Any experience or advice to share?
