I am looking for a rather rare type of book, I haven’t been able to find it either in my searches here or google elsewhere. I want to know if a novel exists about vampires which is very subtle in its dealing with that theme, maybe the word “vampire” doesn’t even come up in the book at all, neither does “blood-suckers” or anything of the sort and it is never explicitly mentioned.
None of the major vampire books fit my search, as they all either mention vampires or blood-suckers or something of that sort. I’m looking for a novel about what seems to be a marginalized group or person who lives on the fringes of society, it is never stated that they are a vampire, but by all other means and descriptors— they are that. ‘Subtle’ vampire fiction.
Definitely not looking for sci-fi, or zombie, or anything of that sort that delineates from a classic vampire. Preferably set as close to our real world setting as possible, even more points if it’s modern day/contemporary. Just a vampire or vampires living in our world, but not addressed as such, and it’s all kind of subtle and not overtly stated at all, even if the vampire tropes and links exist (the blood consuming, avoiding the sun, etc — maybe these are avoided even or subverted in some way).

Does anything like this even exist?? Pls help and thank you!
