I’m trying to do some research to better market my novel, which I have come to find out fits firmly in the genre of Paranoid Fiction.
Wikipedia describes it as:
Paranoid fiction is a term sometimes used to describe works of literature that explore the subjective nature of reality and how it can be manipulated by forces in power. These forces can be external, such as a totalitarian government, or they can be internal, such as a character’s mental illness or refusal to accept the harshness of the world they are in.
Famous authors who work in this genre include:
William S Burroughs
Phillip K Dick
Thomas Pynchon
Hunter S Thompson
My problem is it seems to be a genre that hit its peak in the late 60’s through 90s, and even modern iterations are few and far between and from what I’ve found always through a publisher.
So if anyone has any examples of a somewhat modern self-published book in this genre it would be most helpful in my goal of learning from there success, because as of now I’m in the dark about how to market this damn thing.
Thanks in advance.
