So what I mean when I say subversive is that the characters that are stuck together don’t really seem right for each other or seems impossible they could be together. But they actually grow and developed and the reader and characters figure out that they are actually perfect. Not really an enemies to lover dynamic more like two pieces that don’t quite fit.
The book I’ve seen this in is the Wax and Wayne mistborn series. Staris and wax just seem… So awful for each other when you first meet her, she seems like a snobby woman who has some sort of OCD she tries to push on him. She just isent who you’d picture for the main character Wax, threw most of the first book I wanted him to get with one of the other female leads and was so annoyed with staris butting in randomly, as is wax. But as you progress threw the books you really get to see more of staris and you see how they teach each other things and grow together. I find it really adorable. Especially the train scene but that’s just my two cents ;).
But wax and staris are not really the focal points of those books and while I’m looking for romance I’d actually like there to be some sort of fun plot happening around it all.
So anyone got any ideas? I’m in a romance novel sort of mood so any ideas you have I’d be happy to hear.
Fantasy, thriller, horror, slice of life, futuristic, science fiction, cyber punk, medieval, modern, mystery. I’m down for most stuff.
