I like reading poetry because you can just do one page at a time. Like you take a 5 min break from work and you just read a random page of Schiller or Pushkin and then forget about it again.
There is no keeping track of the action or the characters. It’s just pure enjoyment of the language.
However I also like reading prose. So I started reading random pages of Ulysses and Finnegans Wake. I just open the book at a random page, read it and then mark the page as read with a pencil. This works really well since Joyce’s prose is extremely good and there is no plot to speak of. It literally can be read like poetry, starting at a random point of entry.
So I’m wondering if there is any other novelist with which you could do the same?
