I’m looking to expand my reading this year to include more of the genres I don’t gravitate toward. I normally read a lot of fantasy, grimdark, sci fi, and some non fiction that usually leans toward science, history, or true crime.
I’m open to anything, for example I recently finished Batavia’s Graveyard, the story of a 17th century mutiny that has some true crime aspects. Also looking for female authors as I’ve noticed I listen to a lot of male authors, and a lot of macho hero’s journey stuff.
Here are some faves, feel free to recommend anything you’re passionate about (all recs welcome) but again, generally looking for things outside my normal wheelhouse:
Stephen King (Dark Tower esp)
Brandon Sanderson (Mistborn era 1/2 and Stormlight)
Joe Abercrombie (First Law)
Matt Dinniman (Dungeon Crawler Carl)
Helene Wecker (Golem and the Jinni and its sequel)
Robert McCammon (Swan Song, Boy’s Life)
Ed McDonald (Raven’s Mark)
Bill Bryson
Michael R Fletcher (Manifest Delusions, looking for what of his to check out next)
Brent Weeks
Philip K Dick
James S A Corey (Expanse)
Thanks in advance 🤙
