About to finish LOTR and looking for beautiful writing with a compelling plot. Thinking about Red Rising or Becky Chambers’ work. For context, also a huge fan of Neil Gaiman, Douglas Adam’s, and Terry Prattchett. For me, it’s all about the sentences.
So I swear if someone recommends Sarah J Maas or that Iron Flame book, Imma not trust any of you.

I think Becky Chambers’s Wayfarers series is great. I’d recommend it.
If you want the best sentences, it’s really hard to beat Salman Rushdie.
I was in the same boat as you. I love LOTR and a friend recommended Brandon Sanderson books to me and I have read the first Mistborn book and I really liked it! My friend said that Way of the Kings would be a good place to start if you like LOTR but I have not read that book yet.
