Help I can’t find a book I can’t remember the name of

Okay so I read this book as a kid I can’t remember the name of it but I remember details about the way the book looked it opened strange there was a hole in the cover that showed an animal like eye in the middle and I might of just been a dumb kid but I remember it was kinda confusing and I believe it was either a trilogy or duology I’m well aware that isn’t alot to go on and the cover has almost certainly changed but this is driving me insane please help
