Hello! I’m looking for book series recommendations for a 9 years old girl. We’re trying to get her to read thicker chapter books but it’s proving to be difficult to find either age appropriate ones or ones that are long enough with the writing small enough. She loves princesses, unicorns, mermaids and all that kind of stuff. Anyone has something to suggest?

Harriet the Spy by Louise Fitzhugh
Inkheart by Cornelia Funke
The Hounds of the Morrigan by Pat O’Shea
A Heros Guide to Saving Your Kingdom by Christopher Healy.
Stardust or Ella Enchanted are standalone suggestions.
For series, I would recommend The Spiderwick Chronicles
Zoey and Sassafrass short series.
Heartwood Hotel – four books
Upside-down Magic series
The Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia Werde.
The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Kelly Barnhill
Rose by Holly Webb
Anne of Green Gables might be just right. Not a ton of princesses and stuff, but lots of make believe and stuff. Anne is 11 at the start of the 1st book, and the series goes for a while, but most of the books are written at a level that a 9/10 yr old would be able to read at.
The niblings in that age range who were reluctant readers were converted by graphic novels – some classics like Asterix and TinTin and some newer ones like the Lumberjanes, Nimona etc. Bridging to text only titles was easier that way
If she likes spooky things, I’d suggest the “Creepover” series.
Has she read the [The Frog Princess](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/93ce77a4-c5fc-41c3-bb5c-1d390c9e6f01) series by E. D. Baker?
Little House on the Prairie series- no princesses, but it’s told from the view of someone her age. I adored this series, and I still reread it every few years (I’m now 51 LOL)
She might enjoy the Fablehaven series by Brandon Mull! Really great age-appropriate fantasy series. The main characters are a pair of siblings, I believe in the first book they are 10 and 13years old so fairly close to her age
