As the title states, I generally read literary fiction that is dark, mysterious, sometimes tense, and usually reflective. Lately, though, I’ve been feeling burnt out and jaded so I’m looking for something similarly reflective but less depressing.
I typically like books with psychological/social/philosophical themes. Some examples of books I enjoyed recently include The Secret History by Donna Tartt, I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman, No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai, and My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh. I also love most of Kurt Vonnegut but haven’t really dabbled in much SciFi otherwise.
I’m open to any content, length, setting, etc! Thanks in advance!
