Looking for a book of short stories for someone with extreme anxiety.
Someone I love is having a tough time right now and I would love to find a collection of short stories that I could read aloud with them. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks for your help!
Do you think they would like Agatha Christie? She has tons of short stories, featuring Poirot, and/or Miss Marple, and some that are just stand-alone.
Irwin Shaw wrote some absolutely fantastic short stories, these would be a little more dated, but they’re wonderful stories.
Would they like humor? Woody Allen has sadly disgraced himself but back in the day he wrote some of the funniest short stories in all existence. He had two collections of them.
Nora Ephron wrote short nonfiction pieces that were also very entertaining, again, she had two collections as I recall. These would be from the 1970s and 1980s but her voice is very sharp and modern.
James Herriott’s book (“All Creatures Great and Small”) are basically a series of short stories, and are the very pinnacle of calming, charming stories.
