So i’m writing a scifi space adventure book and i struggle a litte bit about the military rank in space, which i’m using the airforce rank right now, and the organization name and such need work as well, the coatilion of earth or somethig?
Help i need suggestion for those structure name, or the structure that you guys find that make sense or like to see it used. Or the name people like using for big organization. Like Alliance, coalition, citadel,…

I would go the tolkien route and try to figure out in what way earth would most likely unify and then come up with the name based on the background it would have had.
So if earth is a single unified government then obviously it can’t be an alliance or coalition. Would it be under the UN, or some kind of later world-version of NATO?
Answer those questions about how it comes about and then your naming options become a lot simpler.
