I’m looking for a book for a friend of mine – she is traveling to Chile, Bolivia and Colombia later this year, and I’d love to give her a novel by a South American author that either takes place in one of those countries or even better includes travels to or through it. She speaks and reads Spanish as long as it’s not incredibly difficult or full of slang, she reads a lot so a newer or less known author would be great, and it can absolutely be something hefty she can really sink her teeth into. She’s a fan of Isabel Allende and Gabriel Garcia Marquez so those she would already know or have, but that’s the type of book I’d be looking for. I’d be so grateful for help, my tastes run very different and I’d really like to give her something she’d love!
