Surreal book where the writing style is surreal and abstract, not necessarily the plot
Rather than a surreal plot written in a conventional style (I’ve read plenty of these), I want to read one where the writing style itself is surreal, abstract, poetic, even if the plot is mundane.
“Y/N” by Esther Yi – the plot is about a woman who becomes obsessed with a K-Pop star, but the story is told in this very weirdly formalized, distant, surreal voice, and the juxtaposition of this sort of soapy plot with the tone is fascinating.
