I predominately read thrillers and since you liked the silent patient here are my recs:
The good daughter, false witness and pretty girls- Karin slaughter
ALL of Gillian Flynn’s books! can’t recommend enough
The last housewife – Ashley winstead
All of Dan Brown’s books have been 10/10 for me
I have other recs in other genres if you’d like let me know!
Earth by David Brin. Complex and brilliant.
If you liked the Silent Patient, I highly recommend Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough
*The Player of Games* (Iain Banks) got me started on his Culture series.
The Force. Don Winslow. Corrupt squad of elite NYC narcotics detectives opens with the team lead turning himself in… and he knows where all the bodies are buried and he’s got dirt on everyone. And it takes off from there. It’s amazing
Dark Matter by Blake Crouch. Science fiction thriller where the protagonist is abducted into a parallel universe.
If you liked Altered Carbon you’d probably like the novel Thin Air by the same author, very similar type of story.
Here are some others that you may want to check out:
Boy’s Life and Swan Song by Robert McCammon, similar style to King, BL is a coming of age with a little fantasy and Swan Song is post apocalyptic similar to The Stand.
Ender’s Game and A Fire Upon the Deep are both great sci fi
First Law is amazing, as is Manifest Delusions and Raven’s Mark if you want to try more GrimDark that is less dense than GoT/ASOIAF
Lots of good King options if you like his style, I recently enjoyed Joyland, Thinner, The Institute.
And I always recommend Lonesome Dove and Dungeon Crawler Carl regardless of tastes because I had no interest in either and they are both favorites that I recommend as nauseam around here.
