I’m looking for fictional books with easy to read writing, easy descriptions. Something like Killers of a Certain Age by Deanna Raybourn.
Exceptions to genre would be a historical only setting (the book happening only in a certain time period and heavy with descriptions of old buildings, fashion and furniture that I’d have to look up to understand), romance and fairytale or fairytale retellings.
I also wanna avoid things with juvenile characters under a worried/controlling guardian.
Would prefer books where the writer is aware of societal problems like race, capitalism, sexism etc
