Horror in written form is slow, methodical build-up. It’s all about atmosphere and the creeps. I’ve recently been reading The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones— I won’t spoil anything, but its use of perspective is very creative. And I did indeed get jumpscared by a sentence, which I didn’t think was possible.
