I haven’t been able to find anything I can really get into since I read Lessons in Chemistry and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and I’m really yearning for something in the same vein, A strong female main character who falls in love, but her love doesn’t define her, especially set in the 50s-60s.
Any recommendations?

Trouble with Lichen by John Wyndham? It was written in the 50s, but it’s set in the “future” which, to modern eyes, still looks like the 1950s lol.
