Ok, so I normally don’t like to read, but recently had to read Jane Eyre for school and I enjoyed it quite a bit. The parts I liked most were the Gothic elements as well as Jane’s relationship with Rochester. I also really enjoyed Brontë’s writing style. Hit me with your best recs!

Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier
Jane Eyre is my FAVORITE book. My other favorites aren’t necessarily like it, but if we have similar tastes, you may enjoy these, too:
-“All the Truth That’s In Me” by Julie Berry
-“The Night Circus” by Erin Morgenstern
-“Mansfield Park” by Jane Austen (C.S Lewis said that the heroine of this one is a Bronte heroine stuck in an Austen novel)
-“Beloved” by Toni Morrison
-“The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald
-“Frankenstein” by Mary Shelley
-“I Capture the Castle” by Dodie Smith
I tried reading Wuthering Heights, but I thought it was awful and couldn’t finish it. I’ve yet to read others of Charlotte’s, but there must be a similar style to Jane Eyre! I’ve also heard good things about “North and South”
That’s my favourite book!
I second the book Rebecca.
Also Jamaica Inn by Daphne du Maurier as well. The Woman in Black by Susan Hill is also a good gothic take.
Not similar in style but you should check out the eyre affair by jasper fforde.
Madame Bovary – Gustave Flaubert
Tess of the d’Urbervilles – Thomas Hardy
manon lescaut – Antoine François Prévost
Emma – Jane Austen
Pride and Prejudice- “
Persuasion- “
Camille- Dumas
Villette – Charlotte Brontë
Anna Karenina – Leo Tolstoy
These are just a few of my favorites!! Tbh can’t go wrong with Hardy when you’re in a pinch, and anything by any of the Brontë sisters is good
Wide Sargasso Sea the prequel about the woman in the attic!
