hello, english major here. sort of fell a little out of love with reading in high-school and really making an effort to try and get back into it now that i’m having to write my own stuff for my course.
the authors i seem to enjoy tend to fall in what i understand to be a sort of surrealist, absurdist, (magic-realist?, postmodern?) sort of vein: murakami, kobe abe, robert coover, kafka.
i’m largely looking for **short stories**, some of my favourites are:
* *sleep*, *barn burning* (murakami)
* *in the penal colony* (kafka)
* *the babysitter* (robert coover)
* *beyond the curve* (kobe abe)
* *the tell-tale heart* (poe)
* *the bloody chamber* (angela carter)
my favourite novel is probably *beloved* by toni morrison. i grew up reading lots of terry pratchett 🙂
would really appreciate any recommendations!
