I love Joan Didion, Sylvia Plath, Camus, and generally sad-person fiction that’s also sparse in language. Any recommendations, please?
I’ve run out of everything these writers wrote, and am not sure where to go from here. Are there modern writers who write in a similar spirit? Or classic ones I am missing?! Help me Reddit!

Wow….you mentioned some literary heavyweights there! Although not the same, an author who was masterful at terse, moving short fiction was Raymond Carver. I recommend Cathedral.
